Jeremy Bowers: business analyst, adviser, counselor. Jeremy has a passion for the law — and for business. During his years at Barnwell Whaley, he has been involved in a number of complex lawsuits focusing in the areas of professional malpractice, commercial litigation, trade secrets, and land development disputes. He has also counseled numerous local and national businesses and entrepreneurs in trade secret, breach of contract, fraud, landlord/tenant, and other commercial disputes. Jeremy’s strong business and accounting background has served his clients well, including a professional malpractice matter where he used his accounting skills to analyze the potential damages in the case. Jeremy brings a practical blend of business experience to his legal practice.
Jeremy’s undergraduate (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration) and graduate (Master of Science, Accounting) studies focused on financial analysis, information value and content, and cost management. Jeremy interned for a national manufacturer, and during the internship, he developed an information system to automate the company’s accounts receivables, streamlined the company’s month end financial statement process, and evaluated the profitability of moving one of the company’s production lines to another facility.
While attending The Ohio State University, Jeremy served as the event coordinator for the Deliotte and Touche Business Plan Competition, which afforded him the opportunity to assess scores of business plans and financial models. He is still involved in this competition as an adviser to students entering the competition. In addition, he co-founded the Business Builders Club, a student organization devoted to fostering and developing the entrepreneurial spirit in the students at Ohio State, and he served as a graduate fellow at the school’s Center for Entrepreneurship.
During law school at the University of South Carolina, Jeremy was a member of the Law Review. Prior to joining Barnwell Whaley, Jeremy worked for two years at Svalina Law Firm, P.A., a plaintiff’s litigation firm in Beaufort, South Carolina.
Jeremy was chosen as a 2016 South Carolina Super Lawyers Rising Star and is listed as a Top Rated Professional Liability Attorney in Charleston, SC.
When not practicing law, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his wife, Hannah, kayaking on the Low Country’s many rivers and streams, and reading history books and biographies. Jeremy and Hannah serve as members of the Ronald McDonald House Red Shoe Society in Charleston. Jeremy previously served as an adviser to BabyWill.org, a non-profit organization aimed at raising money for research and assisting families impacted by Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
