Dr. Barbara Wagner’s resume leaves no doubt that she is remarkably accomplished: doctorate in law, doctorate in chemistry, 20 U.S. patents, Chemistry Professor at the College of Charleston. What doesn’t appear on her resume are the 24 marathons she has completed, which says as much about her drive to excel as anything on her resume.
Dr. Wagner’s law practice areas include business law and civil litigation, specifically professional liability, construction defects, insurance defense, asbestos litigation and toxic torts. Her chemistry background has proven to be a valuable asset in recent toxic tort cases and she finds her chemical law practice growing rapidly. An Indiana native, Dr. Barbara Wagner received her education from Indiana University (B.S.), the University of California, Davis (Ph.D.), and graduated magna cum laude from the first graduating class of the Charleston School of Law. While in law school she was a member of the Charleston Law Review and the Maritime Law Bulletin. Dr. Wagner holds a Martindale-Hubbell Preeminent rating, (the highest, formerly referred to as AV). She is recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for her work in Insurance Law and as a 2016 South Carolina Super Lawyers Rising Star as a Top Rated Personal Injury-Products Attorney. In 2018, Charleston Business Magazine named her to the lowcountry Legal Elite list in the area of construction law.
Dr. Wagner holds 20 U.S. and numerous foreign patents, and is the author of several scientific articles. Previously, she worked as a research chemist in the Charleston area and as a Chemistry Professor at the College of Charleston. Dr. Wagner serves the legal community as a member of the Executive Committee of the Charleston County Bar Association and as Construction Chair of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association.
