Registered patent attorney Todd Hess joins Barnwell Whaley intellectual property team as member attorney
Barnwell Whaley Patterson & Helms, LLC is pleased to announce the addition of Todd M. Hess as a member attorney of the firm’s Charleston office. Mr. Hess has over ten years of experience as a registered patent attorney and is registered to practice law with the United States Patent and Trademark Office as well as in all courts in the states of South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. Hess joins B.C. Killough and Ernest Lipscomb as the triumvirate of the firm’s intellectual property team, supported by business attorneys and experienced litigators Dawes Cooke, David Cox, Jay Jones, Barbara Wagner and Guy Dabbs as well as other attorneys, paralegals and support staff. “South Carolina and North Carolina are experiencing rapid growth in life sciences, information technology, engineering and manufacturing. We are pleased to increase our firm’s expertise and depth with the addition of Todd Hess. An experienced business owner, certified financial planner and professional engineer, Todd Hess brings a wealth of knowledge to the table as he counsels his clients. Hess has extensive experience in the areas of chemical, pharmaceutical and manufacturing, having successfully filed hundreds of patents and trademarks on behalf of his clients, and in managing thousands of intellectual property assets both foreign and domestic. Hess concentrates his law practice in the areas of patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, intellectual property law, business law and litigation.
Prior to joining Barnwell Whaley, Hess worked as in-house counsel for two manufacturing firms, as well as at the law firm of Alston & Bird in Charlotte, NC. He received his bachelor of science in chemical engineering from the University of Cincinnati summa cum laude, his master of science in chemical engineering from Ohio State with honors and his juris doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law cum laude.
