Banias Launches Immigration Litigation Blog
Barnwell Whaley associate attorney Brad Banias has been named Chair of the Federal Litigation Section of the Carolinas Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and recently became an adjunct professor at the Charleston School of Law, teaching an immigration law course this fall. The course will provide students a critical overview of today’s immigration and citizenship laws and prepare them to identify potential immigration issues in all aspects of life and law, including a review of historical underpinnings and practical aspects of the current law regulating citizenship, the admission of non-citizens to the United States, removal of non-citizens from the United States, and judicial review of all such decisions.
In addition, Mr. Banias announces the debut of his online blog, http://www.immigration-litigation-blog.com, dedicated to the discussion of legal United States immigration matters. Although primarily targeted to assisting fellow attorneys in providing tips to assist clients though the immigration complexities, the immigration-litigation-blog is also is of interest to the general public, particularly those navigating this particular area of the law. Recent posts include the topics immigration litigation basics, fast business visas and the pros and cons of the use of pre-suit letters when considering litigation in an immigration matter.
Mr. Banias joined Barnwell Whaley in November of 2013 and previously worked with the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. As a Trial Attorney in the Justice Department, Mr. Banias litigated civil cases in federal, district and circuit courts related to citizenship, immigrant and non-immigrant visas, and detention. As a result, Mr. Banias is credited with over a dozen published decisions in United Stated district and circuit courts. With Barnwell Whaley, Mr. Banias concentrates his law practice in the areas of civil litigation, appellate practice, business immigration and district court immigration litigation.
Mr. Banias is admitted to practice law in South Carolina state court, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and numerous additional federal district and circuit courts throughout the United States.
